We Weren't There But We Still Care
V.A.L.O.R. (Veteran's Assistance League of Recognition)
League is a non-profit organization whose sole purpose
is to support our area Veterans through monetary donations, assistance at their functions, raising the community awareness
for Veterans and any other support we can offer.

V.A.L.O.R. League has been in existence since January of 2006.
The organization was formed for two reasons. The first being that our local VFW post (Fred Quandt 3901) was in jeopardy
of closing because of insufficient funds to pay expenses and the second reason was that several citizens had expressed a desire
to help the Veterans but didn't have the proper military affiliation needed to join the existing Ladies auxiliary or Son's
club. Our membership includes anyone over the age of 18 who wants to help. To date we have donated over $65,000 in monetary
aid and hall improvements to the Veterans. Part of this money was used to increase the Veteran's Relief Fund which provides
monetary assistance to Veterans in need. Some of the support that the fund provides is helping with utility bills, funerals
and transportation to the VA Hospital. The remainder was used for improvements to the post. Some
of the functions that we host each year are The Easter Bunny Lunch, Mother's Day Brunch, The Burnwood Pig Roast and several
other dinners that we change from year to year. We also co-adopt, with the VFW, a Veteran's family each Christmas.
All profits from every function are donated to the Veterans. We were
just granted our 501C3 tax exempt status. After 5 years we had a sufficient record of non-profit functions and
community service to pursue this status. We consider this a major accomplishment.
